We held a financial literacy seminar in November 2015 at Amador Valley High School led by Ms. Nancy Coumou and Ms. Bronwyn Shone of BlueSky Wealth Advisors. Students learned about basic financial terms, how to prevent debt as a high school student, and the power of investing at a young age. This event helped us recruit student ambassadors.
We hosted a "New Year, New You" finance workshop on December 30, 2015 at the Pleasanton Public Library to kick off our workshop series for middle school students. The workshop included a pre-test and post-test and information about budgeting, types of bank accounts, investing, and saving. We had around 30 students attend.
On February 16, 2016, we held our "Road to Riches" Finance Fair at Amador Valley High School's Multi Purpose room. Professionals from local finance businesses, including First United Credit Union, Palma Financial Services, and BlueSky Wealth Advisors, hosted booths and spoke about important finance skills. Around 100 students attended. Students had the chance to learn about financial resources available to them and network with finance professionals.
In March and April of 2016, we held a series of workshops about financial literacy for elementary school students, which were taught by the founders and our student ambassador team. The workshops covered a series of topics including goal setting, budgeting, and financial responsibility. We also partnered with the Pleasanton Math Circle to reach their elementary school students.
On April 4, we met with the representatives for Assemblywoman Catharine Baker to discuss future partnerships to help spread financial literacy in District 16. Our efforts resulted in a video released by Catharine Baker endorsing our organization and our mission (please see Media page for video).
On July 29, we taught a group of 70 girls from the The Young Women's Leadership School in Bronx, NY important financial literacy skills including budgeting, credit, and saving for college via videochat.
On October 14, we co-hosted a financial literacy event at Amador Valley High School from 4-7 PM in the Multi Purpose Room. Representatives from Patelco and UNCLE Credit Union gave speeches, and there was a panel of financial experts. The panel featured Krish Ramineni, CEO of Fireflies.ai; Miguel Palma, Owner of Palma Financial Services Inc.; Bharathi Chalamalasetti, Identity Access Management Consultant at Wells Fargo; and one of our co-founders to represent Investing in Her Future. The panel was moderated by a Partner at KPMG. We had around 40 students attend.
On January 30, 2017, we co-hosted a workshop with students from Amador Valley DECA. We held this workshop at Amador Valley High School and spoke to students during lunch about the key role of finance in entrepreneurship especially in today's start-up culture in the Bay Area. We had around 30 students attend. |
On March 1, 2017, we established a partnership between Elite San Ramon and Investing in Her Future! Mr. Rim, Director of Elite San Ramon, generously donated $3,000 to our organization and agreed to help us with our reach in future events. Elite Educational Institute provides advice regarding college admissions and offers private tutoring and test preparation courses for standardized tests such as the PSAT, SAT, ACT, and Advanced Placement exams. The company is best known for its eight-week SAT “summer boot camp.”

On May 3, 2019, we held a Financial Literacy seminar at Amador Valley High School with guest speakers from Patelco and First Credit Union. The students learned about investing, credit and debt, banking, and financial decision through interactive lessons and games.
